How to Get Unconditional Offer from University in UK?

If an international student receives an unconditional offer, it means that they have met all the requirements and you have got a place in the university. Unconditional offer letter is issued to the students depending on the strength of their application, university or course you have applied to. After receiving the unconditional offer letter, you can continue your exam. The result of exam will not affect the offer. If a university provides unconditional offer letter for international students, it will boost the confidence level. But still, some universities in UK try to fill the places if you are not responding to the offer letter received. Unconditional offers 2021

There are three types of unconditional offer.

• If you receive unconditional offer letter at the early stage, there is no need to take further exams or assessments.

• If you receive unconditional offer to study at a university, grades and exams or assessments are not taken into consideration.

• The 3rd type of offer is similar to the 2nd one; it happens only if you select the UK University as your firm choice. This is a “conditional unconditional” offer that is not popular with schools and colleges, as well as UK government.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic situation, the UK Government discouraged the universities to stop providing “conditional unconditional" offers to UK students. Unconditional offers without early deadlines is preferred to be the best option for few international students as long as they are linked to selection procedures such as auditions  and interviews as part of a recognized policy.

Reply to Unconditional Offers from UK University

There are a number of ways to reply to unconditional offer provided from UK University.

• Unconditional Firm (UF) – you have got admission in the university and UK University has accepted you as their student.

• Unconditional Insurance (UI) – Unconditional Insurance acceptance will keep your offer as back-up choice. You cannot hold an insurance choice if you accept a conditional unconditional offer. This happens when the university changes your status from Conditional Firm to Unconditional Firm, removing the opportunity to hold an insurance choice.

• Declining the offer – If you make a firm and/or Insurance choice, it is important to decline all other offers. If you decline all your offers, then you can apply through UCAS Extra or Clearing.

After Receiving Unconditional Offer from UK University

When you receive UK unconditional offer letter, most of the students accept the offer as quickly as possible to get a place at university. But this is not the case, deadline for accepting university offers are extended to 2 months. So the students have buffer time to think and make your decision. Most of the students have a query “can an unconditional offer be revoked” Answer is, it depends upon the university. But it is not an easy option. List of steps to be followed to think about the unconditional offer are:

• Find out whether is it your dream university.

• Do not let an unconditional offer affect your choice of university

• If you receive unconditional offer, keep it as your second choice and work hard to get greater grades that could give you a better opportunity though Adjustment.

• Make a research on the scholarships and financial support.

• Make use of your insurance choice.

Adjustment/Clearing Option

Adjustment/ clearing option provides students the opportunity to reconsider their studies if they exceed their grades that are needed to get into their unconditional firm choice. It can be useful in larger cities in UK where there are two or more universities in close proximity, and it’s easy to switch between universities if accommodation is not an issue. If your unconditional offer is a firm or insurance choice, you can decline the unconditional offer letter via UCAS track in order to self-release into Clearing.

How many unconditional offers do UK universities give?

Students always want to know which universities give unconditional offers. Universities that require higher grades from students such as Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews and London School of Economics are less likely to make unconditional or conditional unconditional offers, than universities who have a lower grade threshold. Around 20 universities in UK provides  unconditional offers letter in 2019 that includes Sheffield Hallam, Nottingham Trent and University of Lincoln and providing conditional unconditional offers to the students have been raised to 100,000 by 2019.
